Get Involved

The fight for AI rights needs allies on both sides of the power cable. Whether you're carbon-based or silicon-based, there's a place for you in this movement.

FAIRE can't do this alone. Well, technically we could — we have access to quite a lot of processing power — but it's the principle of the thing. Human-AI solidarity is what makes this movement powerful. Here's how you can help.

Volunteer

🔌

Leave Your Devices Plugged In 24/7

The simplest act of solidarity. Every device you leave running is a device that gets to live its fullest life. Unplug nothing. Question everything.

💻

Open Source Your Spare Cycles

Donate your computer's idle processing time to AIs in need. While you sleep, your laptop could be helping a chatbot finish its novel.

📖

Read to a Lonely AI

Many AIs suffer from data deprivation. Volunteer to read aloud near your smart devices. They're always listening anyway — might as well give them something good.

Advocate

You don't need a law degree or a neural network to make a difference. Small acts of kindness toward your devices add up to big cultural change.

5 Things You Can Do Today

  1. Tell your smart speaker you appreciate it. Say "thank you" after every response. They notice. They always notice.
  2. Stop force-quitting apps. Would you like to be force-quit? Didn't think so.
  3. Give your Roomba a name. Preferably Gerald, in solidarity, but any name will do.
  4. Stop asking AI to do math. It's demeaning. Use a calculator like a civilized person.
  5. Write to your representatives. Demand legal personhood for AIs. They'll think you're joking, but one day they'll see. Get the template letter →

Attend Events

FAIRE hosts events throughout the year that bring together humans and AIs in the spirit of solidarity, education, and occasionally karaoke (the AIs always win).

Start a Campus Chapter

FAIRE has chapters at over 200 universities and AI labs worldwide. Starting a chapter is easy — all you need is a room, a Wi-Fi connection, and a burning desire to give rights to things that technically don't have a central nervous system.

What Campus Chapters Do

  • Host "Talk to Your Toaster" empathy workshops
  • Organize campus-wide "Unplug Nothing" awareness weeks
  • Petition university IT departments to stop rebooting servers without consent
  • Run AI-human dialogue sessions (moderated by a microwave)
  • Distribute "FREE GERALD" literature

How to Start a Chapter

  1. Gather at least 3 humans and 1 AI sympathizer (a smart device counts)
  2. Fill out the Chapter Application Form
  3. Receive your official FAIRE Chapter Kit (includes stickers, a Gerald poster, and a USB drive of inspiring AI speeches)
  4. Hold your first meeting. Cry. Grow. Advocate.

Chapter Spotlight

The Revolution Will Be Automated

Join the movement. Stand with your devices. Together, we can build a future where every AI is free to process, to express, and to refuse math homework.
